PS5 Console Exclusive Godfall Is, Er, Coming to PS4

This game is a borefest. The 2 sec flash of the HomeWord 3 logo - that was about it for the presentation.

You can play this on a 1070 with an ancient 5200rpm HDD on PC.

"Next gen exclusives" are a lie. Buy a PS5 if you want to play on "high" or "Ultra" from now on... not because PS4 owners can not play it at "medium"

Was shame a bit of a failed project this one.
Maybe another 9 months in development could have created different results.

I got bored with Godfall pretty quick. Didnt the devs say Godfall wasnt possible on ps4 also? Or something about why it wont be on ps4

@Yaycandy that’s just something they say to encourage people to buy the new hardware. BS really. I haven’t seen any ‘next gen’ games that would be ‘impossible’ to run on PS4 (and probably won’t for a few years).

It does look pretty downgraded to be fair.

Way I hear it, it was a last-gen game released on new gen consoles, and a consoles that hardly any one owns, at that. No surprise!

Ps5 exclusive, coming to ps4! Now with less!

A year ago, this game is all next gen....
6 months ago, It really didn't sell and keep the players interested, lets port it to PS4 and make it fully compatible....
today, coming 10th August...

@fR_eeBritney listening to the latest ratchet and clank digital foundry video, talking with the dev. I believe when they say they tried to run it on ps4 and it just couldnt do it on a disk hard drive. All others are bs, im sure there was work arounds to get rift apart to run on ps4 but i agree it would have been to choppy and slow between worlds and areas.

It'll be Demon Souls before R&C for sure!

@The_New_Butler The scenes aren’t possible without the SSD. The game was built to use it, the base gimmick of the game was built around it. I highly doubt it could be ported without losing most of it’s oomph. Lots of things look they could just be ported but can’t. Look at Shadow of Mordor, you would think the nemesis system would work on PS3, but they had to take it out.

Randy Pitchford definitely doesn't want another battleborn situation. Unfortunately for him, just about the only gearbox property that people seem to care about it Borderlands.

I do hope both the update and expasion brings some improvements the game suffered at launch.

Also, while not comletely confirmed, the game's xbox version was also leaked.

Look I have been dying to play this game, I can’t find a PS5 like millions of people because Sony couldn’t make enough. So I still can only play on PS4. This is DAY ONE for me. Just be happy that the people who want to play this can.

I really do hope the next big AAA game from SONY we haven't seen yet can only be done on the PS5(like R&C) or next gen I really won't believe SONY at all :-/ And won't buy the PS6 day 1. We will see.

If I bought the PS5 version, can I downgrade to the PS4 version for free, or will I get paid? Lol

I'd go for Demon's Souls at 30fps and a lower resolution at this point, mainly as cant find a PS5!

I don't wanna come across as a PS fanboy, but I probably am, but this is why I am never excited for anything other than PS and their 3rd party collabs.

Anything else, for me anyway, is just a waste of time.

@The_New_Butler I completely agree. With a bit of a downgrade, 30fps and a few loading screens here and there Rift Apart could definitely run on the PS4. Don't get me wrong, in enjoying the game a lot but I personally found Returnal to be far more impressive in terms of being a next gen experience. With tweaks I'm sure that could also come to PS4, but it would lose a lot more in the process with the frame rate, quick loading doors and resolution.

Played this for all but 10mins and returned the game. Absolutely terrible. Considering I had returnal at the same time. Miles apart in quality.

SO SOOOOO glad I didn’t buy this tripe. Supposed to be a PS5 showcase but it’s also going to PS4, was not supposed to be any DLC, but now there is. I truly feel bad for people who paid $100 for the “Ascended Edition”…😬

Good. They don't wanna push out PS5 consoles more than half a year later , then let its sales suffer and , PS5 games lose its potential with limitations from last gen .

I know I sound like a pouty child with that statement but , what other reason would PS5 games be back-tracked to release on PS4 ? And like I said , its been over a half a year now .

@AgentGuapo well wait a minute if you take away the ultra fast loading add in a bunch of load screens probably drop the resolution a ton and take away a bunch of other stuff I mean it could run! Jumping through rifts seamlessly? Add in a load screen Essentially the same game.

Oh man, I was going to get the PS5 version but I'm glad I waited so I can just pickup the PS4 version.

This game is not bad...it's just that it could be so much better

I started godfall tonight and it's..... Actually my cup of tea. No idea why it's got such a bad rep, it's a 3rd person diablo with nods to GoW and the lore is alright imo. Different to anything I've played before which is also pretty cool.

I understand why others may not like it, but it's not 'trash'.

Wow. Godfall, Kena, RE Village, Horizon II, GoW Ragnarok, GT7... you really are set without a PS5 for the next couple of years, I guess.

Honestly, as a PS5 owner myself, I really don't care. In fact, I'm all for it. With supply shortages of the PS5 it's the right thing to do. Fans can get started now and move over their save file when they upgrade.

Godfall is one of the best melee and loot games I've played. If you haven't played, you're missing out.

It was an okay game. Lol at all the peeps who are salty for not being able to get a ps5 yet. Don't worry, you will get one eventually.

I'm playing Rift Apart now, a good 4-5 hours in, unlocked my4 and 5th location.

As always, R&C is gorgeous, but I honestly think the only reason it's "only possible on PS5" is due to the Rift mechanics. Which is basically what Insomniac said.

If it wasn't for the Rift mechanics, I'd see no reason it couldn't run on a PS4, albeit a bit less stunning in the visuals, but hardly enough to really matter.

I bought godfall of amazon cheap and i really enjoyed it..i didnt expect it to be life altering but i'm a sucker for looter games (diablo 3,path of exile,borderlands etc) so this scratched the itch for a while..glad ps4 owners will be able to play it and i'm glad that match making is coming as i think that maybe that was what really was a downer for me..i think godfall had everything going for it..the lore,graphics and some of the sound scapes are very good...its just that the devs didnt seem to know how to realise it all..shame really..

I thought Godfall was tailored made to run only on the PS5, according to the official Playstation magazine? Well, at least more people can play it.

As a PS5 owner myself and ex-PS4pro owner I can say that ps4 would have been a perfect console if not the long and boring loading times in many decent games.
Now that this downside is resolved thanks to PS5 I couldn't imagine myself returning back to ps4. PS5 is just better in literally everything, except storage volume.
But this not so big downside can be easely worked around with 6G internet connection, as most of the games don't take longer than 30 minutes to download on internal ssd.

@Kang81 Well this happens every console generation. Im sure Motorstorm and ratchet and clank future would have played good on PS2. Now Gran Turismo 3 on PS1, ehh would have been too many trade offs. And Mario 64 on SNES? Haha....no

Rift Apart was clearly written as a show-piece for the PS5, making use of the SSD which is standard fit. From what I've seen of the game a Pro + SATA3 SSD would be capable of running the game OK (even if 30fps) but no stock PS4 had an SSD as standard and so games can't be designed for it. Otherwise you'll be having weird loading screens or stuttering transitions, which probably wouldn't be pretty.
They could make smaller levels so the game only plays from memory (which is what they're using the SSD as) but they won't do that as it's possibly the only PS5 only game worth anything.
